Helicopter Museum Bückeburg
Europe's only helicopter museum is located in Bückeburg, Northern Germany. Beside the exceptionally rich exhibition material, the museum offers a forum for the helicopter fans and aviation specialists worldwide. It also hosts numerous events, among others the biannual Helicopter Forum, the most prestigious gathering of the helicopter industry.
Due to the constant growth of the collection, there was a demand for expanding the exhibition area. Along with the reconstruction, the museum's online appearance has been redesinged as well.
The new portal is driven by open-source Plone CMS. To tailor it to our needs, the original Zope/Plone framework has undergone a heavy customization, we have completely rewritten the required modules and templates. This enables the museum staff to maintain the content effortlessly as well as the design team to implement a clean, CSS based custom layout.

Visitors find detailed information on the aircrafts on exhibit, including technical specifications, pictures and videos. There's an online shop that allows visitors to order various products, gifts and publications related to the museum and the history of helicopter aviation. An ad management module makes it possible to publish third party ads. The notable personalities and manufacturers of the helicopter history are to be found in the searchable archive.
Further services include community forums, user groups with multi-level access rights, newsletter subscription.
